The latest Diablo 3 patch (1.0.3) limits those who downloaded Diablo 3 from battle.net will have limited access to Diablo 3. It will be considered as a starter version, and will only allow characters to get to level 13, and will not be able to play past the Skeleton King boss battle. Battle.net will then review the account and in about 72 hours (3 days) the account will be considered a full version now. Very unusual move, and many people will probably be upset, since getting to level 13 won't be that hard.

why the hell are they doing this?  Seems stupid.  Buying digitally, especially directly from, saves them money/makes them more money...does this apply only to future digital purchases or to any current?

oh blizzard you are silly

For new players. Also, they cannot access the auction house and cannot play globally.

Only occurs for all people planning to sign up. From what I have seen, many people who have been planning to buy Diablo 3 are now changing their mind.

Well it is especially stupid if I were to buy directly from them... =|  But I'd rather retail any day just cause I like havin the case and all.

Either way it'll lose them money.  Some people will be forced to buy retail, which loses them money.  Others won't buy.  So, good job blizzarddd.  Ofc that is of the people who know of this... there will be people who buy and don't know shit until they buy it
