Title: Steam Greenlight

Steam Greenlight will be released soon... but what exactly is it?  It is something great for indie games, imo!  Steam Greenlight will be a new service for indie game devs to publish their works on steam, via ratings by us gamers!  So hopefully this will cut back on threads like "why isn't xxx on steam?!"  or "why did steam deny/reject xxx?!" and will also give so many great indie games out there a better chance.  I'm really looking forward to it, and hope to see some indie games I enjoy on steam soon enough.

By the looks of it, this will not only help completed indie games, but also any that are in the "concept" stage, or alphas/betas!  I think this will help devs a lot, they'll be able to get feedback from the steam community and get more advertisement out there.

You can read a lot more here (http://steamcommunity.com/greenlight/), what do you guys think?  I'm pretty happy to see this, and really look forward to participating.

I like the fact that Valve is taking more consideration into the small genres of gaming such as Indie. I look forward to this and can't wait. The only thing is that since Steam Greenlight will use Indie games, what will happen to Desura now?

Well desura is also a (great) modding community (and has a lot of linux users, idk how steam is for linux users; but desura at least will say which games will run on linux etc), and there may be some indie devs who don't want to be on steam or never end up putting their game for review on greenlight.  (Since only the devs may do this)

Not to mention this doesn't guarantee the indie games getting on steam anyway ;) just hopefully gives them a better chance... It may end up just being a popularity contest, and only the most well known and amazing indie games will get in.  There are so many great indie games out there that people don't know... I really just hope this helps people find more of these indie games.  I know of quite a few.

Steam Green-light mainly works for developers as it helps them to get feedback from potential customers and start creating an active community around their game.
