Paul W. S. Anderson, the visionary behind the delightful Resident Evil movie franchise.

He feels that most videogame movies haven't been "done right". Essentially, he feels that movie directors lack the knowledge and insight to a videogame that he really has shown through the Resident Evil movies.

For instance, he criticizes the Tomb Raider movies:

“You can fool people once, you know. I was excited to see the Tomb Raider movie the first time it came out. I saw it, it wasn’t very good, I wasn’t very excited to go and see the second film. I think with Resident Evil it is very telling that each movie has done better than the one before.”

I'm laughing as I type this.

I concede the point that the Tomb Raider movies weren't the best things out there, but they've sort of stuck to the idea of a hot, gun-toting archaeologist woman. Sort of.

What has Mr. Anderson's movies done with Resident Evil? Sure, the first movie was somewhere along the lines of what the games were going for, although they necessarily don't match up in timeline.

And somewhere after that, the movies derailed completely from the game and ran away from the "survival horror" aspect of what the Resident Evil games were and become Anderson's personal Resident Evil fan fiction/wet dream. Just because you threw a few recognizable enemies and names into your movie doesn't mean the movie is faithful to the videogame series, Anderson.

No, the movies have become just a bad fan fiction version of the original games and is essentially Anderson allowing his scantily clad wife to prance around on sets, pretending like she can "act".

Final thought? I really don't think he has room to talk. I mean, sure he's not quite as much a series ruiner as Uwe Boll is, but by the way the movies are going, he's heading for the fast track towards shit-making.
