Recently, there's been rumors that Sony cut the PS Vita's RAM from 512 mb to 256 mb in order to compete with the 3DS's price.

Since Nintendo of America has just announced that the 3DS is having its price cut down to an insane $169.99 to help with sluggish sales, Sony is going to have quite some trouble competing. I don't know how much more RAM you can cut down to match that price Sony...

Sony announced that the Vita is going to be 249.99/299.99 (Wifi/3G) in both dollars and Euros, although they haven't confirmed the price in pounds for the UK. (Hopefully it'll be somewhere around there.)

There's still plenty of RAM to work with, according to developers, but... come on Sony!

I highly recommend you think about what you just did and bring that RAM back up to speed. You're not going to be able to compete with the Nintendo 3DS on the price front, but you can definitely beat it out with superior hardware specs. Not to mention, the PS Vita is now going to have to compete with mobile devices and tablets, the latter of which boasts better screens and better RAM. Sony, your tanking a bit lately. Your sales have been smarting since the PSN hacking affair. You're wiser than this.

My 8500 GT has 256 MB. It still runs most newer games and handheld games are nowhere near as demanding. No biggie. Wish they didn't care so much though....

Sony does this kind of shit a lot.  It's rather depressing to be honest.  I'd rather they kept the other RAM, I'd rather the vita than the 3ds any day :/  regardless of price.   3ds just doesn't entice me, it has probably one or two games I want.. while the vita probably will have a lot more games I'd like to get.  Especially if they have anything like PixelJunk Monsters.

I wouldn't compare the 3ds to the vita anyway, they need to stop that.  There is a huge difference between the two, and the main thing that the 3ds boasts about is the 3D (I know it has more, but it was their main thing they tried to use to sell it), which a lot of people are complaining about with "headaches" and such.  A friend of mine has a 3ds and she hardly even uses the 3d (if she even plays her 3ds)
