A lot of naysayers of handheld console gaming (myself included) believe that the PS Vita is going to crash and burn just as badly as the 3DS simply because we've come to the point where handheld console gaming is going to be phased out and replaced by mobile technology.

Handheld gaming once had its appeal in that though the console didn't necessarily have the graphics capabilities of a full-blown console, it allowed you to carry a bit (no pun intended) of fun with you in your pocket. The Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advanced, Nintendo DS, and PSP all came at a time before the iPhone...basically, before everyone started carrying a handheld console/Internet browser/baby computer all rolled into one with them as a mobile phone.

The 3DS launched this year to sluggish sales. Sure, you can attribute it to the lack of third party games for the 3DS's sluggish sales, but mobile technology has certainly had an impact on it. Lately, all we're on about is technology with beauty and portability. Hell, it's why Apple's products all sell so well.

And really, when it comes down to it, you're going to need your phone a hell of a lot more than you need a 3DS or a PS Vita. And although an Android is comparative in price to the 3DS or the PS Vita... half the time you're not paying anything for your phone if you start a new contract with a service provider.

And I think Sony recognizes all of this. They're selling the PS Vita at a loss, and they're determined as hell to not have it crash and burn like the 3DS... hence why they're slapping such a low price tag on the handhelds. They're also ensuring that third party developers have their hands on the PS Vita development kit, to guarantee third party support.

And now, they're going to support Android games. After all, if you can't compete with 'em, why not just work with 'em?

PS Vita? Is that a new Sony product? I have a PSP but this sounds like a copy of it. I never bought a 3DS because its the same shit as a normal DS, but in "3D". Its gonna be the same thing, every year, Xbox 720=Xbox 360 with better graphics. Same with the PS3 and PS4.
