Ok basically, I am not happy with what they are doing with the Elite program. It is $50 dollars to join it, and apparently those who join get things such as maps, contests, and plans. I highly disagree with this plan because most players don't prefer doing something like this. Also, Elite never came to PC, leaving PC gamers in the dark and forcing them to buy a console if they wanted to be part of this. I just do not understand why you have to sign up as a special member of something to do something like contests or such. I understand other companies do this, and even Playstation does it with PSN Plus, but it doesn't make much sense and fairness to me.

I understand the things about how Elite should be for PC also and how only Premium members can get the maps for free but thats how Activision is, they will do almost anything for money. I am part of this Elite Premium membership just for the maps and the clan stuff, but half of Elite is still BETA. They have 20 maps they will release for MW3 and I will get them free of charge because I am Premium. I still do thing that Elite should be part of the PC community because like you said, its not fair. The contests are nothing of benefit because they only have things like iPads, skateboards, and badges (some stupid shit for Elite only) that people hack the leaderboards to get. I'm now waiting for the Clan Operations to come out (which they probably won't) to level up my clan. PSN Plus is just like $2 off prices for like 3 games. I agree with almost all of his rant.

Well ofc they'll give the maps for "free" for elite members.  They advertised that.  Not only that, it's incentive to pay for elite.  You get more than just the maps with elite; so in the end you'll get your "moneys" worth in that sense.  I can't remember how many maps they were going to release, but just assume there will be 4 map packs @ 15 usd each. Elite is 50 usd, you save 10 dollars.  It's worth while to get for those people.

I assume what you're talking about is psn+, they get discounts on games, free games, and extended / special demos.  That is what psn+ users pay for.  And it tends to be well worth the money if you use your ps3 often.  You get those specials and it (hopefully) helps sony get better security like they should.  psn+ this month was well worth it; normally in a month you'll get enough free games to make up for the cost of a 3 month payment.  Ofc not all games are necessarily appealing to you always, but if you keep updated on all the free shit, it is well worth it.

It is stupid that elite isn't coming to pc, but that is just... well I don't know honestly.  I really don't see why they don't have it for pc.  Maybe they think we're all rich and can afford to pay for map packs on our own... spend more money that way..

I would hope no one is foolish enough to stop gaming on pc, and switch to console just for cod / cod elite. :\  It really does screw pc gamers over, but activision doesn't seem to care.  They probably think pc gaming is dying >> which it's not, but everyone loves to say it is.

Funny they think it is dying, yet they own blizzard.

I understand how you may think that you are saving money, but they are making a profit. They make $1,000 for every 20 gamers who sign up for Elite. That is just plain ridiculous. I understand how the maps usually go near $15, and depending on how they set up maps and all depends on how the money is really saved. Anyways, for PSN+ that was just an analogy. PC gamers are pretty much forced to buy map packs via Steam, which will be annoying. And the contests won't even exist. And I also abhor the advantages of Elite. They get things like map packs and contests/competitions. Why can't the contests be universal and at least give gamers who did not want to sign up for Elite a chance to play in it? Both beg for an explanation.

Well technically either way they are making money, and technically you are "saving" money buying elite as opposed to buying all the map packs separately.

What bothers me is that we don't get elite.  PC gets put on hold for every bit of cod.  Map packs?  We get that shit a month after xbox.  Xbox, ofc, always get is first.  Microsoft pays to make sure that happens.  Most cod players are on xbox (ps3 has no where near as much to my knowledge, same for pc... but I am sure I could be proved wrong).  Cod commercials work for both cod and xbox.  They always say "FOR XBOX" and have a picture of xbox, etc, at the end.  That advertisement falsely leads unaware buyers to believe that cod is only for xbox...  and yes there are people who don't research or look around.

(Also note, that the 360 users are the people who like cod the most; on metacritic it has the highest rating of the three copies.  they get treated better, they're easier to please, etc.  pc gives it the lowest, and we get treated like shit.  no elite, no dedicated servers? we get everything ~1 month late?)

They released elite to make more money.  If elite just got the map packs at ~10$ discount and were able to play them before released, people are less likely to buy it.  So they add the incentives, like the giveaways and whatever else.

I'm not agreeing with what they do, I'm not defending them.  I'm just saying it's all marketing, and money making.  It is what activision does.  It is what capitalism is.  Make money.  If they can charge and get away with it, why should they stop?
Acitivision is the one who raised pc games to 60$.  I'm pretty sure when black ops came out it was 50, and at some point they decided to raise the price to 60.  Someone please correct me if I am wrong (I actually really want to know).
Activision wanted, and tried, to set console game prices to 70 or 80.  Sony refused, I can't recall why exactly... or who precisely refused.  But the point is that is activision for you.

I read an article about the resort they send the people who review cod to.  They go to some spa resort in California, get high end treatment, get to play on (xbox? mostlikely) big screen tvs, in some high end rooms, blah blah blah.  And they get to keep a lot of "incentives."  They spend money to get good reviews, to make more money.  They're all for the money, and if these contests help bribe people into signing up for elite then great (for them)!

If one person buys it, they'll talk about "how great it is" to their friends, who will in turn buy it, who will talk to their friends, who will buy it, etc etc.

Sorry.... I'm kind of off topic a bit I think?  IDK.

Point is: Activision charges for it, people buy it, they make money. They won't stop, because they ARE making money.  They don't care about pc community.  They don't care about shit, aside from money.
Elite gets special treatment, because they want everyone to buy elite.

Please don't derail the topic. Yes, I understand that XBOX has the most COD players, but there are still PC players who are left in the dark who wanted Elite. That's what I am trying to explain. I understand Activision gives out this special treatment for the money, but it just seems to be unfair. I understand this is how companies work, but you understand my point.

yes, and I get what you're saying.

It is unfair. Sad  Wish they'd pay more attention to pc gamers.   It is stupid; they focus so much on xbox... I mean I get that microsoft pays them to specialize ... but you would think they'd make enough money to make it worthwhile to have elite on pc.  They just can't be assed with it I'm sure...

If they actually cared about pc community... or cared more, they'd make more money :|

I just play MW3 for fun, I don't care about elite. to be honest I like that we get to see youtube videos of the maps and such before they come out so we can see if its worth buying or not. I just play sonic Generations any ways.

I also play MW3 for fun. I don't really get competetive in games unless I'm playing with my friends in private matches. Like I said before, I mainly bought Elite for the free $15 map packs that have 2 maps each. Everything else Elite has is mainly garbage.

Also, is Sonic Generations fun at all? I might buy it one day because I heard its a mix between old Sonic and newer Sonic.

so worth it, but if you get it on PC make sure you have a controller, it sucks on keyboard.

I also saw an ad on tv that says there is a new map pack currently for XBOX. Wonder if it is Elite or not
